DIY Coffee Mud Mask

DIY Coffee Mud Mask

September 07, 2018

As Summer comes to an end, we are dreaming of cozy, warm drinks. Even though it isn't quite chillier in our neck of the woods, we decided to take a twist on coffee by making a coffee mud mask.

Coffee has many beauty benefits, check out our blog post all about the benefits of coffee and why it should be in your beauty arsenal. One of the other ingredients in this mask is Bentonite Clay, another one of our favorites.

Whether you have oily skin or not, we all can produce oil on our skin, whether we become sweaty, hot, or are in a polluted area. Overproduction of oil can clog your pores, as well as all of the other things we put on our skin, such as make-up, primers, etc. Between our environments and what we put on our skin, bentonite clay comes to the rescue to clean and detoxify the skin.

Bentonite Clay has a negative electrical charge, which is the opposite of a toxin, therefore it binds to toxins and purifies the skin. Bentonite clay also pulls hydrogen from cells, and allows for more oxygen. This process helps with circulation and skin tone and health.

Bentonite Clay is gentle on the skin and is suitable for all skin types. However, it can be a good idea to spot test in case you think you might be sensitive.

The last ingredient we use in this DIY mask is Apple Cider Vinegar. Apple cider vinegar is another favorite of ours as well and we frequently use it as a toner. ACV is great at banishing blemishes, toning the skin, softening the skin and soothes the skin.

Now go put on a comfy robe and treat yourself with this easy and effective DIY!

DIY Coffee Mud Mask

2 Tbsp Ground Coffee (or you can grind your own coffee beans, I use this simple coffee grinder)
4 Tbsp Bentonite Clay
5 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar

1. Add the ground coffee and bentonite clay in a bowl. Mix together thoroughly.

2. Add in the apple cider vinegar one tablespoon at a time. Mix after each tablespoon is added. I liked the consistency with 5 tbsp, but you may like a little less or more, so it is important to mix after you add each tablespoon.

3. Use on face, neck and chest area. Leave on for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse and moisturize!
