By now you have probably heard of collagen powder, or you are a avid user of it. There are many reasons why it has become so popular and rightfully so, because it has so many benefits! Here we will share with you the benefits of taking collagen and our favorite way to enjoy it!

What Is Collagen?

Collagen is the main structural protein in our skin and other connective tissues. It is made of the amino acids: proline, hydroxyproline, arginine, and glycine.

What Are The Different Types Of Collagen?

There are many types of collagen, but there are 5 main types.:

Type 1: skin, tendon, organs, bone, vasculature

Type 2: Cartilage and Eye Structures

Type 3: Liver, Arteries, Lungs

Type 4: Kidneys And Internal Organs

Type 5: Cell Surfaces, Placenta and Hair

All of the collagen types are important, but we mainly have collagen type 1.

It gives structure to our bones, ligaments, tendons, hair, skin and nails. Collagen helps us move and stretch, and keeps our nails strong, hair healthy, and skin young.

Chocolate Collagen Drink Recipe

Our favorite way to drink collagen...

Ingredients:

French pressed brewed roasted roots (like Teechino) or Roasted Cacao Beans (like Crio Bru - my favorite is Ghana French Roast, yum!)
2 scoops of collagen (see pics for favorite brand or check it out on Amazon)
Stevia to taste
Dutch chocolate (1 to 2 tbsp, or preferred amount)

Directions:

Put the directed amount of roasted roots or beans in the French Press. Boil water and pour into the French Press. Let it sit for 5 to 7 minutes, depending on your preference on taste or package directions of roots or beans. Press and pour into mug, mix in stevia and chocolate. Enjoy!
